The Telangana imbroglio

The Telangana imbroglio has bogged down me too. I have stayed in this region (city of Hyderabad) for more than a decade and had an opportunity to interact with scores of people of all hue and shade. I came across people where masses in this region did not seem determined and agitated to find solutions of their immediate and remote needs through segregation of their Telgu brothers by formation of Telangana. The Telangana movement is largely the brainchild of a defeated politician when ousted from political parties of eminence in the state .He is said to have started vouching this cause. He contested about two general elections on this plank. He succeeded to gain some seats when he entered alliance with the congress. His party licked dust in the recently concluded general election of the parliament and assembly. His confidence could be seen when he contested parliamentary elections from two constituencies of Telangana region .He lost one .His party could get only about ten assembly seats and none of his party contestants succeeded in the district of Hyderabad and R.R.District .What answer they have to offer to the people of India with respect to their following in this region. He has hardly any no locus standee to vouch cause of Telangana.

It’s an irony that he resorted to hunger strike and incited the feelings of the people here. He is exploiting the emotionally laden citizens of the state where love to commit suicide for no good reasons is widespread on feeble grounds. The charge that Andhraites are exploiting is unfounded .I don’t think that those spear heading separate state agitation can come forward with statistics to prove their points.

The Home Ministers announcement on 9th of December 2009 that the process of formation of Telangana state would be initiated soon, came as a bolt from the blue for the MLAs and MPs of this Telangana region and all other belonging to the rest of Andhra Pradesh. None of them were actually anticipating or were ready for this news. The confusion and chaos pursued .Now one can hear change of guards in political arena, shifting of the loyalty every day. All parties are divided. The MLAs and MPs are searching for their brand new political footing in this changed situation which seem slipping from the underneath of their feet .All are faltering One wonders as to why the people from Andhra region are not being accepted by their Telgu brothers. If they have as alleged opened schools, colleges, Institutes of engineering, managements and medicals and ventures in other fields and are also leading in real estate business. , the question remain unanswered who are actually benefited from their above ventures. Are not the students from Telangana region getting admissions? Are admissions based on unconstitutional methods and are unfair to the extent to deprive and bar the students of Telangana region out of healthy competitions. Are the state government adopting discriminatory yard sticks for them? No one can question their fairness. No one so far has come forward with reliable data to convince us about the veracity of their allegation.

The Telangana region is dependent on other regions of the state in respect of paddy crop and agriculture products etc. Numerous national Institutes such as Department of Atomic Energy Units: Nuclear Fuel Complex, Electronic Corporation of India ,Atomic Mineral Division, National Institute of Nutrients, CCMB and similar other Institutes of national reputes ,Research centres, Multinational companies are in existence in the city of Hyderabad. All of them must have been established on the efforts of all. I have doubts if Shri.KCR can claim o have one in his account.

To say that the development is neglected in this region is absolutely baseless. What have fascinated the Andhraites to rush to settle and grab everything as charged by the protagonists? Was it the barren terra firma that mesmerised them or the room for development?

The emotions have been raised very high and the political situation is moving fast towards disastrous end. The Berlin wall is in the offing. The historians know the unification of Italy and Germany as also the collapse of Berlin wall .If the divisions are the solutions, what were the compulsions to erect them.

It is an irony of destiny that a race speaking the same language (Telgu)’is allegedly threatened by its own brother. It is a rare phenomenon. Language affinity anywhere in the world is deeper than the religious affinity. Language affinity is the first religion. A religion with followers of different speaking languages is secondary. This unnatural phenomenon shall definitely lead to turmoil a head. Unforeseen events are to happen. Emergence of Separate Telangana state will neither offer sweet cake to one and all.

Demanding separate state is similar to the war imposed by USA on Iraq on very false and fabricated ground. Some powerful European Countries too participated in this war.

Andhra Pradesh as a whole is known for its developments. Discrimination if any is but to exit. Domination of one section over the other may be due to –survival of the fittest and elimination of the weakest in the world.

The role of BJP is laughable. Where they are in the state and who are they to speak in favor of separate state that too at the top of their voice. Separate small states suits them and their peer RSS. They are trying to wash their hands in flowing currents (Telangana agitation) of Ganges

TDP party which had been favoring united Andhra till yesterday has its Volta face now. This party President C.Naidu is in dilemma and ambivalent. Till yesterday, he spoke of united AP. Suddenly has extended support to the people spear heading this movement. He again condemned the central government for the announcement of formation of Telangana State .He damned the union Government for its hasty decision. He was hundred percent sure that the formation of state shall never be accepted by the center. He too fell in trap and fell flat .The declaration by P. Chidambaram Union Home Minister was a bomb shell.

A few protagonist intellectuals are acknowledged as founder of the movement since long. They cannot give it up. They will fail to survive and treated as traitors. To say the movement is more than sixty years old, therefore it was bound to come up. I heard a BBC Journalist based at this City indirectly advocating the separate Telangana on this plea. It does not sound well.
